Nationally Recognized ‘Designer Mike’ Partners With D-Lister Kathy Griffin To Transform Ultra Chic Hotel Triton Suite In Second Season Of Bravo Hit Reality Show “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List”
Mike Nielsen, Owner of Phoenix-Based Nielsen Diversified and Nielsen Galleries, Brings His Contemporary Progressive Style to Hotel Triton in San Francisco on Episode 5 of Griffin’s “My Life On The D-List,” Airing Tuesday, July 11 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT
Phoenix, Ariz---June 29, 2006---That’s right---A-List Phoenix ‘Designer Mike’ Nielsen (as he’s so charmingly known on the show) is back on season two of Kathy Griffin’s “My Life On The D-List” hit Bravo reality show. But, this season it’s not Griffin’s house that’s the design challenge, rather, her custom suite in the ultra chic San Francisco Hotel Triton.
For a second year in a row, Kathy Griffin called on Mike Nielsen--this time, to take what he’d created at her home last year, and turn it in to her ‘home away from home’ at the Hotel Triton. And, did we mention he only had six days? Well, this nationally recognized designer was up for the challenge…to turn the out-dated suite in to a haven fit for D-List royalty.
“Because Kathy loved the comfortable, inviting atmosphere we created at her home, we wanted to introduce that same sexy-sleek, comfortable feeling” said Nielsen. “I used our custom canvas art, furniture and permanent botanicals from Nielsen Galleries to create a similar over-the-top look. The good thing this time I knew Pom Pom (Griffin’s beloved puppy) wouldn’t be around to chew up the $25,000 custom sofa,” Nielsen joked.
When it was all said and done, the newly created Kathy Griffin suite can be described as ‘spa-like,’ with cool, crisp colors, dark woods and an inviting seating and sleeping area that’s sure to calm the demands of the actress/comedian.
“Mike’s design is impeccable. He has the vision and fantastic taste to know exactly what my ‘home away from home’ should look and feel like,” said Griffin when asked about ‘Designer Mike’s’ Hotel Triton suite design. “Mike and I have been friends for years, so when Hotel Triton approached me about creating my own suite Mike was naturally part of the deal.”
